Circle of Care: Being a Consultant

Self care and communication for new consultants.

  • Are you interested in learning strategies to communicate more effectively with your team and others, including those you don’t manage?
  • Would you like to explore strategies, or have you already developed strategies which you can share, to help you to thrive within the responsibilities and pressures of your role?

Being a consultant involves particularly challenges to your working life and to the ways in which you communicate with colleagues, patients and carers. On this one-day course new consultants will be able to reflect on their roles, identify any opportunities and challenges ahead and prepare for them, building resources and techniques to support this. In particular, the course will address ways of embracing responsibilities with confidence, explore ways of supporting your team and encouraging a culture of clear communication, and begin to develop strategies to enable you to switch from day-to-day work to strategic, bigger-picture thinking.

Aimed at:

  • Consultants at GSTT
