Performing Medicine is a Clod Ensemble initiative founded by Suzy Willson and run by a small, dynamic team. Our unique approach is delivered by a group of trailblazing artists who use ideas and techniques from the performing and visual arts.

 

Suzy Willson – Director

Suzy is Artistic Director of acclaimed theatre company Clod Ensemble and creator of Performing Medicine. She is a Professor of Movement, Arts and Medicine at The Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, Queen Mary University of London.

Suzy has been pioneering the use of arts in healthcare education for over 20 years working with a range of medical schools, higher education institutions and NHS Trusts, as well as curating public events with leading cultural venues across the UK including Tate Modern, The Royal Academy and Wellcome Collection.

Catherine Peters – Executive Producer

Catherine is responsible for strategic vision at Performing Medicine. She joined the company in 2022 with over twenty years of experience in creative leadership, production and partnership work.

After graduating in Modern Languages from the University of Oxford, Catherine was awarded a European bursary to attend the National Film & Television School’s Short Course Unit. Over the next ten years, Catherine went on to develop, produce and direct a wide range of broadcast and arts-funded films.

In 2007, she founded an in-house film unit at a pioneering educational communications agency. As Head of Film, Catherine designed creative campaigns to support young people’s health, curiosity and life skills for clients such as Wellcome, Public Health England and the British Council.

Carly Annable-Coop – Programme Manager

Carly manages our team of Associate Artists and facilitates many of our workshops. She has over 18 years’ experience leading participatory dance projects that engage professionals, non-professionals and marginalised groups with a focus on transformation and change.

Eliz Hassan, Research & Project Manager

Eliz is Research & Project Manager at Performing Medicine. She holds an MSc in Global Health & Social Justice at King’s College London, with experience in academic and market research. She has contributed to several published journal articles in the field of Global Mental Health, and is interested in the understanding of the social components of healthcare.

Olivia Amory, Head of Operations and Finance

Olivia Amory studied English at Bristol University before starting her career in arts administration. She has worked for the Independent Theatre Council (ITC), World Stages London, The Print Room and Shakespeare School Festival. She worked as an independent producer before joining Clod Ensemble in 2017 as General Manager. She is now Head of Operations and Finance.

Bella Eacott, Research Associate (Freelance)

Bella Eacott is a Research Associate at Performing Medicine. She has degrees in history and philosophy of science and medical humanities, and a background in dance and works as a massage therapist, and has a particular interest in the intersections of health and arts, with a focus on embodied experiences of healthcare practice.
