Performing Medicine is a Clod Ensemble initiative founded by Suzy Willson and run by a small, dynamic team. Our unique approach is delivered by a group of trailblazing artists who use ideas and techniques from the performing and visual arts.
Suzy is Artistic Director of acclaimed theatre company Clod Ensemble and creator of Performing Medicine. She is an Honorary Professor at Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry at Queen Mary, University of London.
Suzy has been pioneering the use of arts in healthcare education for over 20 years working with a range of medical schools, higher education institutions and NHS Trusts, as well as curating public events with leading cultural venues across the UK including Tate Modern, The Royal Academy and Wellcome Collection.
A former classical musician, Jo is a relationship builder with 10 years’ experience as a leader in the cultural sector. Carly manages our team of Associate Artists and facilitates many of our workshops. She has over 18 years’ experience leading participatory dance projects that engage professionals, non-professionals and marginalised groups with a focus on transformation and change.
In collaboration with independent evaluators, Bella leads on building the evidence base for our work, sharing learning at conferences and through publications in leading journals including BMJ, Medical Humanities and The Lancet. She holds
