Supporting healthcare professionals through challenging times

NEW AHRC FUNDED PROGRAMME TO SUPPORT PRIMARY CARE STAFF

Performing Medicine and Queen Mary University of London, Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry have received support from the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) [AH/X010481/1] to build on our original ‘Communicating through Covid’ research project, and extend the work to the primary care community.

Thanks to AHRC Follow-on funding for impact and engagement, we will be running a Primary Care Professional Development Programme, with a series of activities across winter and spring.

The first offer in this series includes FREE online or in-person training to support staff wellbeing, verbal and non-verbal communication skills, focusing on remote consultations.

Content will focus on:

  • How to use your voice effectively in telephone consultations, avoiding fatigue and strain
  • Tuning in more effectively to non-verbal communication
  • Consideration of experiences of respectful communication, to prevent issues from escalating and to build supportive, communicative cultures within work environments
  • Simple, practical arts-based techniques to reflect on the dynamics of video and telephone communication
  • Ways to improve well being during working day

If you are interested in these projects for your team, join us on one of our intro sessions to hear how you can access this offer. Register your interest here.

  • Live networking event to bring together the primary care community, stakeholders and artists to share experiences and support colleagues
  • Primary Care Cultural Ambassador training so you can help us spread the word about the value of creative, arts-based learning methods for staff in primary care
