Free training opportunity for independent artists and arts organisations in Newham

Funded by Arts Council England and supported by Newham Council, Performing Medicine offers a unique two part training day including a networking event for artists interested in working at the intersection of arts and health.

PART 1:

Join Performing Medicine for the training day on Wednesday 12th July 2023, 10:30 am – 4:30 pm for a unique training day to explore:

  • The landscape of social prescribing
  • The opportunities social prescribing could create for your projects
  • The role of cultural social prescribing in addressing health needs and inequalities in our communities
  • Referral processes and social prescribing mechanisms within Newham
  • Current offers and case studies from the arts and health sector
  • How best to market your work to social prescribers and healthcare professionals
  • Strategies for self-care in your practice

£40 bursary paid to freelance artists + Lunch included

PART 2:

On Thursday 13th July – 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm we will be hosting a unique evening networking event providing an opportunity to connect with social prescribers, link workers and healthcare professionals. The evening will involve:

  • A Q&A panel with invited guests of link workers, social prescribers and healthcare professionals
  • A discussion on ways the cross-sector collaborative workforce wishes to move forward in Newham; and on strategies to engage different communities
  • Sharing and learning about ongoing projects and useful connections for future collaborative work
